CULTURE DAY
We held two Culture Day events last week to celebrate the diverse and wonderful community at Varndean College. These events raised money for charity helping those in need around the world.
There was a celebration of culture, heritage, food, fashion and dance!

What we are doing
Citizens assembly - On Thursday 10th November, members of the Student Union attended the citizens assembly, which brought up topics such as student mental health, the real living wage and the rising transport costs to several members of the Brighton and Hove council.
Culture Day - The SU is currently arranging 2 culture days that will take place in December, where students can share their culture and experience the culture of others
Staff roles - A "cheat sheet" of the different roles of important members of staff and how to contact them was proposed by the Student Union, and is currently being worked on by George Marshall and myself (Cassie Samuel).

Business Management, Accountancy or Technology Apprenticeship
Are you undecided on whether to choose going to university or opting for an apprenticeship?
On Wednesday 14th December PWC is hosting an event with PwC from 5:00pm - 6:00pm as they take us through all of their different Flying Start degree apprenticeship programmes in Accounting, Technology and Business Management.

Year 12 - if you are thinking of going to university after Year 13, you can try out a course before you apply. Go to london.ac.uk/tasters for a wide range of short taster sessions at participating universities around London. You will get an insight into studying a particular subject area at University and it is a good place to start your research.
